Over the past 8 months the SCSTG have worked closely with
the Assynt Angling Group and the community at Lochinver, West Sutherland, on
a project aimed at increasing trout angling visitor numbers to the area.
The project has attracted major industry press interest
from Trout and Salmon and Scottish Field magazines amongst others and it is
hoped that a series of articles released over the course of this winter will
kick start increased angler interest in the area.
The project has developed attractive products and
services for the modern wild trout angling market and once the 2008 wild
brown trout season is underway the SCSTG hope to promote the project model
to other communities who also wish to develop greater tourism surrounding
the wild trout fishing they offer. Cathel McLeod, treasurer of the Assynt
